Hertford County Partnership for Children works with many
different local service providers to furnish needed services to children and families.
Below is a list of our local partners and the Smart Start funded
services they provide:

The Partnership collaborates
with DSS to administer its Smart Start childcare subsidy, a significant portion of
which is used toward eliminating the
county's Day Care Waiting List by providing additional funds to
increase the number of families who can receive child care subsidies. Visit

The "Parents
As First Teachers" (PAFT) project provides educational
and developmental services to parents and preschool children and
coordinates the Parent-Child mobile unit's activities.

Triad
Project, a collaborative effort of three agencies, responds to health
and development needs of young children.

through
a partnership with Smart Start and Roanoke Chowan Hospital,
screens infants and young children treated at the hospital for
health and developmental problems, makes referrals for services, and
provides inpatient education to new mothers.

School Readiness Program for four- year-olds increases
the number of children served by the Title 1 program. The
Partnership currently funds two pre-kindergarten classrooms as part of
this initiative.
