Welcome to the Hertford County Partnership for Children!

The Hertford County Partnership for Children is a NC non-profit organization led by a board of local community leaders, parents and childcare professionals who share the common goal of strengthening families and ensuring that  young children are healthy and ready to succeed when they enter kindergarten. This goal is accomplished through the Partnership's funding of programs and services in the community designed specifically for families and children in Hertford County, North Carolina.

Smart Start

Our Mission

The Hertford County Partnership for Children's mission is to prepare Hertford County children, ages 0 to five years, mentally, physically, emotionally, and socially to enter school.  This is accomplished by:

bulletAssisting families to fulfill their role as primary caregivers and teachers of their children
bulletAssessing and screening children for referrals to appropriate resources
bulletEnhancing availability of quality child care
bulletIncreasing access to quality health care

Our Vision

We, the Hertford County Partnership for Children, Inc. (Smart Start) believe that children are our richest resource and our promise for a brighter tomorrow. We support with passion the right for every child to be born into a healthy, nurturing, family and a safe and caring community. We value the empowerment of families, the education of children and the worth of the human spirit in all children. We are committed to changes and improvements for families and children, which will enable them to reach their full potential as contributing members of society.
